Wendy Sue (Cubbage) Shafer

Wendy Sue Shafer, 50, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

She was born on May 14, 1969, in Harrisonburg and was a daughter of Elizabeth Ann Vaughn Bolyard of Stanley and the late Harrison Lee “H.L.” Cubbage.

On April 5, 2017, Wendy married Richard Shafer, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her mother and her husband are a daughter, Larissa Wright of Stanley; a son, Jonathan Kibler of Luray; three sisters, Lori Painter and Crystal Shenk, both of Stanley, and Amy Jo Cubbage of Broadway; a brother, Harrison Cubbage II of Shenandoah; and nine grandchildren, Brooklynn, Laci, Brandon, Jonathan, Shane, Ava, Alana, Braiden, Wyatt and Jennifer.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Stanley New Hope Pentecostal Church by Pastor Randy Miller and Evangelist Doug Gochenour. Burial will be private in the Rhinehart Family Cemetery in Stanley.
