Ruby Nellene Smith, 79, of Luray, VA, passed away on January 11, 2020 at The Wellington at Lake Manassas, in Gainesville, VA. Nellene was born on June 1, 1940, in Columbus Georgia and was the daughter of the late Rubbie L. Yeomans and Nellie Irene Ferrell Yeomans Dubberly. She is survived by her companion Fay LeCompte III of Luray; three sons, Lewis T. Smith, Jr., of Temecula, CA, Robert W. Smith and his wife Susan, of Chantilly, VA and Kevin L. Smith, of Dallas, TX; one step-son, Tracy Amos and his wife Lisa; her half-brother, Leland Dubberly of Cullman, AL and half-sister Sheila Gephart, of Fort Myers, Florida; three granddaughters, Christina Patel, Michelle Sikora, and Rachel Smith; two step grandsons, Rebel Thomas and Corey Amos; and one great grandson Parker Sikora. She is preceded in death by her beloved Aunt Pearlie Mae and Uncle J.D. Smith; a brother, Larry Dubberly; her companion, Jerry Amos; and one step grandson, Casey Amos.Nellene was raised in Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana. She married her high school sweetheart, Lewis T. Smith in Aransas Pass, TX. They travelled the world and were employed by the C.I.A. She retired from the C.I.A. in 1993 as an Executive Officer and Training Officer. After her divorce and retirement, she moved to Stanley, VA with her companion Jerry Amos. She loved the beautiful countryside, gardening, and the friendly nature of people in the community. Her hobbies included making and selling beaded jewelry and collecting and selling antique jewelry. She loved the cottage (Rivernest) she had built on the Shenandoah River, and often rented it out. She met her end of life companion, Fay LeCompte III, in 2000. Fay is President Emeritus of The Blacksmith Guild of The Potomac. Together they enjoyed visits with family and friends, blacksmithing events, and road trips.Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020, at The Bradley Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Doug Gochenour presiding over the funeral service. The Family will receive friends One Hour before the Service. Burial will be at the Graves Chapel Cemetery, in Stanley, VA immediately following the service. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Stanley United Methodist Church in Stanley, VA. The family wants to give a very special thanks to the wonderful staff at The Wellington assisted living for the loving care they gave Nellene. We also want to thank Capital Caring Hospice for the support and extra care they provided Nellene during the last month of her life.
