Ronnie James Campbell, known to many as “Runt,” passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray, VA. He left his earthly home surrounded by family in the same hospital where he was born 75 years earlier.
Ronnie was born on March 24, 1944, to the late Floyd and Alyse Campbell and lived on Honeyville Road in Stanley, VA, his entire life. His older brother and closest friend Wayne preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Patty; daughter, Lisa Meadows and son-in-law, Robby; granddaughters, Nikki Dovel, Jordan Meadows, and Shannon Updike; grandson-in-law, Ryan Dovel; and great-grandsons, Joshua Updike and Isaiah Dovel.
Ronnie began working construction when he was fourteen years old and discovered a calling that he would follow for over fifty years. At the age of 18, he married Patricia Ann Buracker and welcomed his daughter Lisa into the world. After designing and building a home for his family just one year later, Ronnie found a passion for building homes and eventually established his own carpentry business. He loved being able to provide a place where people could build their lives.
While he was dedicated to and passionate about his craft, his greatest joy was in building his family. He was never happier than when he was spending time around a table or on a porch with the ones he loved. His outgoing personality and generous spirit led to many meaningful friendships. Every life Ronnie came into contact with was significantly impacted by his servant’s heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
