Joseph Adolph “Joe” Hilliard, 70, of Luray, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on Jan. 7, 1949, in Page County and was a son of the late Adolph “Dockie” Hilliard and Alita Good Hilliard.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Calvary Independent Brethren Church in Stanley.
On Nov. 21, 1970, he married Bonnie Sue Nauman Hilliard, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Joseph Adolph “Joey” Hilliard Jr. and wife Kristi, and Chad Hilliard and wife Aimee, all of Stanley; three sisters, Donna Burner of New Market, and Brenda Lowery and Juanita Taylor, both of Stanley; two brothers, Leonard and Roger Hilliard, both of Stanley; and five grandchildren, Allie Hilliard, Luke Hilliard, Abbie Hilliard, Mason Hilliard and Paislee Hilliard, all of Stanley. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Ann Pettit.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Calvary Independent Brethren Church by the Rev. Charles Turner. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621 of Luray.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at the church.
