John Phillips Obituary

John Ellis Phillips, 84, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray.

He was born on February 1, 1940, and was a son of the late John and Elsie Phillips.

John graduated from Purdue University and went on to pursue many passions, including rescuing Collies and restoring Model A cars. John was also a member of the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Zorn Phillips, whom he adored; his stepdaughter, Susan (Carl) Deputy; his stepson, Tony (Felicia) Gannacone; six grandchildren, Hayley (Dustin) Hellstern, Sarah and Lauren Deputy, Grayson and Ella Gannacone, and Lindsay (Kevin) Baikauskas; and four great-grandchildren, Ian and Eloise Hellstern, and Liam and Beck Baikauskas. He is also survived by a brother, Jim (Barbara) Phillips and their son, Rob Phillips.

John will be most remembered for his passion of restoring Model A cars. He fulfilled his dream of building the Model A Garage and restoring history one car at a time.

Services will be private and held at a later date.

In memory of John, the family asks that donations be directed to the Christ Episcopal Church in Luray.
