Herbert Winston Buracker, 83, of Stanley, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019.
He was born on May 31, 1936, in Luray and was a son of the late Lloyd McKinley Buracker and Ruth Virginia Cave Buracker.
Winston was a veteran of the United States Army and had worked as an engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Stanley United Methodist Church.
On Oct. 1, 1955, he married Patsy B. Wilt Buracker, who died on May 17, 2011.
He is survived by a son, Bryan Buracker of Forest; two sisters, Patty Campbell and Millie Prince, both of Stanley; two grandsons, Bryan Buracker, and R. Chris DeCoursey and wife Shelby, all of Forest; and one great-granddaughter, Layne DeCoursey of Forest. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy Buracker and Forrest Cave; and a sister, Reva Buracker.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Leake's Chapel Church of the Brethren by Pastor Anne Sisson and Evangelist Doug Gochenour, with visitation hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Leake's Chapel Cemetery in Stanley with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
