Gary Gene Runion, 72, of Orkney Springs, died on Friday, July 31, 2020, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1947, in Broadway and was a son of the late Thomas Runion and Hanna Fadley Runion.
Mr. Runion was a member of the Newport Church of the Brethren, and was president of the Shenandoah Valley Banjo and Fiddle Club from 2016 to present.
On Sept. 5, 1985, he married Lillian Belle Price Runion, who died on March 25, 2017.
He is survived by two sisters, Mae Mitchell and Ruth Morris of Broadway, five sons, Bobby, Gary Lee and Jeffery Knight, all of Luray, Randall Knight of Orkney Springs, and Jason Knight of New Market; a daughter, Theresa Altice of Pennsylvania; a brother, Roy Runion of Lee's Summit, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mabel Fitzwater, Betty Tusing, and Evelyn Runion; and two brothers, Harold and Larry Runion.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Newport Church of the Brethren by Duane Painter.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3, at the church.
