Doris Marie Burke, 82, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1937, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Franklin William Atwood and Frances Bradley Atwood.
Doris retired in 2007 from Page County Public Schools, where she worked as a bus driver for 39 years. She was affiliated with church her whole life, having attended numerous local churches.
On June 14, 1957, she married Winfrey Felton Burke, who died on January 1, 2010.
Doris is survived by three sons, James W. Burke and wife Carla Burke, Michael B. Burke and wife Sandra Burke, and Timothy W. Burke and wife Margaret Burke, All of luray; a sister, Lois J. Kilby of Fairfax; a brother, Forest N. Atwood of Luray; six grandchildren, Bradley Austin Burke and wife Emily Burke, Heidi Danielle Burke and companion James Hundley, Benjamin Garrett Burke, Casey Burke Austin and husband Tyler Austin, Steven Alden Burke, and Nathaniel Caleb Burke and wife Sarah Krall; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Burke, Caroline Austin, Lilly Hundley and Versie Hundley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Bradley Atwood; and a sister, Roberta Jenkins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at the Lighthouse Gospel Church by her Nephew, Elder Forest Atwood, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray.
