Cornelia Long Obituary

My heart is broken at the loss of my sister, Cornelia.  She left me and our family unexpectedly and too soon on February 27, 2022, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, NC.

After graduating from Page County High in 2004, she later moved to NC where she loved and cared for her son, Hunter Glen Triplett.

She is survived our father and brother, Glen E. and Jason E. Long.  She is preceded in death by our mother and grandparents, Trenda L. Long, Nelson A. and Lutie D. Cave and William A. and Bertha V. Long.

Growing up, Cornelia loved spending time on the family farm and loved hunting with our father.  Recently, Daddy reminisced at an evening of hunting on the mountain place with Cornelia.  A flock of turkeys had moved in near Cornelia’s hunting spot.  Telling Daddy that evening on the way home, they again went hunting the next morning.  Those turkeys were still roosting near her hunting spot.  With Daddy’s instruction, she brought one of those turkeys home.  He spoke of this proudly.

Cornelia had a huge passion for horses and loved to draw and paint.  Cornelia captured a beautiful sunset picture on the farm.  She won a blue ribbon at the fair that summer for that picture.  That picture is still in display on Daddy’s wall.

I can tell many memories of Cornelia but what really holds dear to my heart is that she loved her son and family with all her heart.  We must hang on to the good memories and know that she is with the Lord.

A private family memorial in memory of Cornelia will be held later.

With Love, Jessica McKenzie, and family

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.        Revelation 21:4
