Brenda “Bren” O’Dare Harvey Beahm passed peacefully in her beloved home on Cave Street in Luray, VA. She was born one block away and, growing up, walked past this beautiful home, originally built in 1908, on her way to school every morning and evening. She had always dreamed to live and raise a family there. She, as with many things in her life, willed it so, and was able to raise her family; entertain and care for many friends; and fulfil her final wish by dying there on May 5, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Beahm was a devoted friend to many as well as a friend to her community. She was one of the founders of the Page County Heritage Association. In addition to being a Class Mom and Den Mother for both her sons, she was active in the Luray Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary; Brown’s Mill Home Demonstration Club; Luray Garden Club; and the Luray Beautification Committee. However, in Bren’s eyes, her most important role, was that of mother to David Lee Beahm, Robert Reed Beahm and Penny Donovan Beahm; grandmother to Lindsey Rene Hedrick and Robert Reed Beahm, II; great grandmother to Jacob, Jordan and Victoria (Tori); and guardian (and the guarded) of Teddy her beloved dog who was beside her until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents Warder O’Dare Harvey and Mary Loring Miller Harvey, her brother Phillip Harvey and former husband, Bobby Lee Beahm. She is survived by her younger brothers Warder “Buzzy” Harvey, Timothy Harvey and her sister, Ann Darnell, all whom she adored. All are from Luray.
Her entire life’s work was devoted to family, but also, what she thought her life should be and how it should be lived - how important appreciating every day is - and how dreams do come true if you will them to be.
Family visitation will be at her home, 45 Cave Street, Luray, VA. Tuesday, May 7, any time after 12:00 noon.
A graveside service will be at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery, Luray, VA. Wednesday, May 8, at 11:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Page County Heritage Association.
