Ann Marie Campbell, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed quietly on the afternoon of March 16, 2019 in Luray, Virginia, following a stroke she suffered in late October.
Ann was born on July 7, 1948 and grew up in McLean, Virginia. She graduated from George C. Marshall High School and continued to take classes at Northern Virginia Community College. Ann lived in Falls Church and was a Senior Account Executive for AT&T, with clients like Mobil Oil and Marriott Hotels. She retired in Luray in 2005.
She was the daughter of William Franklin Campbell and Catherine Pearl Baker Campbell. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald Franklin Campbell.
Ann is Survived by sisters Susan Lee of Luray and Karen Back (husband Ron) of Hopewell; cousin Carl William Haskell of Luray; Nieces Stacey Williams and Kim Proviano (husband Mike); sister-in-law Rebecca Campbell and six grandnieces and grandnephews all of Jeffersonton, any many cousins and friends.
Ann loved reading, learning new things, listening to music, playing computer and board games, finding new recipes and cooking and serving them up. She was a staunch Democrat and thoroughly enjoyed having “loud discussions” about politics, religion, social injustice and anything she felt strongly about.
She was always the one to go to for advice because she knew so much about so many topics. Ann was the best story teller — she was so animated. Her love for her family, and especially all the kids, was clearly seen in her eyes and shown through her actions and her great smile.
Ann was generous to a fault and supported many great organizations that helped children and encouraged education. Memorial gifts may be sent to Special Olympics Virginia, 3212 Skipwith Road, Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23294.
A private service and memorial with family and friends will be held in the near future.
Let us all remember her this way ... Seeing her pain free, at peace, enjoying a wonderful book ... Smelling like baby powder ... Tasting some of her wonderful cooking ... Feeling the hug of a loving child and Hearing her most fantastic laugh.
