Wilma Carol Waters, 69, of Luray, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester.
She was born on January 7, 1955, in Luray and was a daughter of the late Vernon "Abe" Runyon and Carol Shenk Runyon.
Wilma had worked at Avtex for 12 years, Alma Poultry Plant for 15 years and at Anderson Storm Doors for 16 years. She loved music, going to concerts and watching westerns. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and talking to neighbors on Kimball Road.
Wilma took great pleasure in watching her sons play football and baseball, and chaperoning their school trips.
On October 16, 1978, Wilma married Oliver Elwood Waters Jr., who lovingly cared for her especially through her illness.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Brandon Waters and companion Dawn Miller of Luray, and Matthew Waters and wife Crystal of Broadway; a brother, James Runyon of Luray; several nieces and nephews; as well as her in-law family, with whom she was extremely close.
Wilma was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Eugene Runyon; and a sister, Juanita Black.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Robert Griffith and Pastor Jonathan Farmer, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
