Wayne Hilliard Obituary

Wayne Dewitt Hilliard, 66, of Luray, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born on February 17, 1959, Wayne was a graduate of Luray High School Class of 1977. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 44 years working at Wrangler. He was known for his quiet strength, his unwavering loyalty, and the deep love he had for his family and community.

Wayne had a lifelong passion for baseball. Whether cheering from the stands, helping out on the field, or simply enjoying the game, the ballpark was his second home. But above all, his greatest joy was being with his children and his beloved dog. His devotion as a father was unmatched, and he never missed a moment to proudly speak of his daughters. Wayne was especially proud of his girls; Wayne and Pam were their biggest supporters in everything they did.

He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Hilliard and companion Timothy Earley; his former wife/friend, Pam Alger and husband Scott; his grandson, Declan Comer (and father Aaron Comer); a sister, Karen Burton; a stepsister Betty Griffith; and a stepbrother, Doug Hilliard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erman Franklin Hilliard Sr. and Patsy M. Presgraves Hilliard; two daughters, Alicia and Emily; as well as a brother and sister, Butch Hilliard and Debbie Duggins.

Wayne’s memory will live on in every ballgame watched, every story told, and every life he touched with his kindness and quiet wisdom.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Jason Pettit, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.
