Wanda Jean (Lowery) Spain

Wanda Jean Spain, 79, of Stanley, died on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab. 

She was born on June 15, 1943, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Alton Luther Lowery and Juanita Virginia Lucas Lowery. 

Mrs. Spain was a member of the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren in Stanley. 

On April 24, 1962, she married Louis Lynwood Spain, who died on March 28, 2012. 

She is survived by a brother, Alton Luther Lowery Jr. of Stanley; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Spain; and two sisters, Betty Jane Miller and Sandra Kay Hilliard. 

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Leake's Chapel Church of the Brethren by Keith Higgs, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren or to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department.
