Virginia Lucille (Shirley) Dick

Virginia Lucille Dick, 94, of Stanley, Virginia passed away on Thursday January 12, 2023, in Luray, VA.
She was born Virginia Lucille Shirley on July 3 rd , 1928, in Stoney Fork NC and was the daughter of the
late Obe Shirley and Zina Shirley.
A longtime resident of Harford County MD, she relocated to Stanley VA in 2012 to be close to her
family.
She worked for Geico Insurance Company for 25 years as a share holder relations administrator before
retiring. She was an avid gardener, baker and enjoyed making crafts with her late husband Ernest Dick.
She was a long-time member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Bel Air MD.
Preceding her in death are her first husband the Rev. Younger J. Dykes, second husband Ernest Dick,
sons Vaughn Dykes, James Dykes and Christopher Dykes and brothers James Shirley and Kenneth
Shirley.
Surviving are her son Eugene Dykes and wife Mary Dykes of Stanley, VA, grandsons Zachary Dykes of
Queens NY, Travis Dykes of Stanley, VA and daughter in law Leslie Jenkins Dykes of St. Simmons
Island, GA.
A private service will be held later in Maryland.
