Obituary

Calen, Victor M. age 91 of Luray, VA, formerly of Mineola, NY passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021, after his second stroke this year. Beloved husband for sixty years of Kathleen and loving father of Michele (Henry) Yen, Thyra and Eileen Luckey. Caring grandfather of Andrew and Matthew Yen and Nicholas, Amanda and Joleen Luckey. Predeceased by his parents Oscar and Helen Calen and his brother John and sister Dorothy Marinaro. He owned and operated Vic’s Deli 232 Old Country Road, Mineola with his family for over twenty years. He relocated to Luray and opened a shop on Main Street on the riverbank.  Hurricane Fran (1996) washed the building off its foundation, and the lot is now part of the Greenway. Before retiring to tend his garden, he worked at Walmart.  He was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley, Luray where the funeral will be held on Thursday, August 26th at 11:00AM, reception to follow in the church hall.  Burial service will be at the Long Island National Cemetery Farmingdale, NY on Friday August 27th at 1:30PM.
