Vernon Lloyd Holmes

Vernon Lloyd Holmes Jr., 88, of Richmond, formerly of Luray, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Canterbury Health and Rehab Center in Richmond.

He was born on May 4, 1935, in Luray and was a son of the late Vernon Lloyd Holmes Sr. and Hattie Virginia Broyles Holmes.

Vernon was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

On March 18, 1962, he married Joyce Arlene Vaughan Holmes, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, John C. Holmes (Jolie) of Richmond, Stephen Holmes (Sue) of Stanley, and Ronald Lloyd Holmes, also of Richmond; one granddaughter, Nathalia Holmes (Shannon) of Hopewell; and two grandsons, Holden Bass (Jessie) of Richmond, and Austin Bass of Richmond.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray by the Rev. Jeffrey D. Marble.
