Timothy "Peewee" Stroupe Obituary

Timothy Wade “Peewee” Stroupe, 58, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

He was born on July 12, 1966, in Harrisonburg and was a son of the late Calvin Donald Stroupe and Janet Christina Nauman Stroupe.

Timothy is survived by two daughters, Brittany Seal and husband Aaron of Bentonville, and Brianna Stroupe and companion Cody Griffith of Stanley; and three brothers, Carroll Stroupe of Bergton, Tommy Stroupe and wife Debbie of Luray, and Mark Stroupe and wife Kim of Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kay Petefish, and brother-in-law Rob Petefish.

He began his early adulthood by volunteering his time with the Stanley Fire Department in 1987. He made precious memories and loved to share his stories about fighting wild land fires with the Department of Forestry.

He hung up his turnout gear when he became a father. He devoted his life to the youth of this community putting his two girls at the top. Being a father was his greatest joy in life and often shared that with others. He enjoyed coaching in many baseball and softball leagues. He had an avid love for most all sports and the great outdoors.

Music was his passion and you were hard pressed to find a song he didn’t like. He enjoyed his band “Highway 340” and could often be heard singing “Purple Rain.” The band members were all his brothers, even those who weren’t blood.

He worked for the local chicken plant for many years, where he made great friends. He spent many years working construction in the city and for Keystone Construction. He ended his working career as a forklift operator for Sysco after 16 years.

“Peewee” never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone he met. He had a love for nicknames and everyone had one. He had an unforgettable laugh that will be missed by many.

He was famous for his “life lessons and quotes of the day.” His final lesson and message to all is “make the dash count.”
