She was born on August 26, 1940, in Page County, and grew up in Pine Grove Hollow, where she spent her childhood surrounded by family and the close-knit community.
Sybil married the late Ray Mitchell Dodson (March 12, 2009) on July 20, 1968. Together, they raised five children, who survive her: Patricia Temple, Deborah McDonough, Benjamin Dodson, and Lisa Whiteside, all of Luray, and Edward Dodson, MD, of Dublin, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett David Weakley (July 26, 1963) and Mary Vanner Weakley (December 2, 1989), and two brothers, William Vanner Weakley (February 13, 1977) and John David Weakley (April 23, 2017).
Sybil worked as a credit manager at Schewels Furniture Company for many years, where her professionalism and dedication were widely respected. However, it was her passion for music that truly defined her spirit. An accomplished pianist and organist, Sybil shared her musical talents with her community for decades. She served as the organist for St. George's Episcopal Church in Pine Grove, where her music touched the hearts of many during services and special events.
Sybil was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her love of music, her devotion to her family, and her steadfast commitment to her faith were hallmarks of her life.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at St. George's Episcopal Church, Pine Grove, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 14.
