Ruth Ann (Stroop) Getz

Ruth Ann Getz, 82, of 9501 S. Congress St., New Market, passed away on Friday morning, April 11, 2025, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

She was born on July 28, 1942, in Aberdeen, Maryland, and was a daughter of the late Elmer and Thelma Lloyd Stroop.

Ruth Ann was a retired seamstress, having been employed at the former Aileen Inc. in New Market and the former H.D. Lee of Broadway.

She was a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market.

On February 10, 1959, Ruth Ann married Kenneth Getz Sr., who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Kenneth Getz Jr. (Junie) of New Market; a daughter, Betty "Bebe" Tribby (Kevin) of Broadway; a sister, Joyce Davis of Ruckersville; two brothers, Lynn Stroop of New Market, and Gerald Stroop of Barhamsville; four grandchildren, Amber Rinker (Chris), Joshua Getz (Krystal), Megen Redd (Marcus), and Jared Getz (Samantha); and five great-grandchildren, Kate, Korryn, Waylon, Irvy and Everest. She was preceded in death by a son, Lee Getz; and a brother, Eldon Stroop.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 14, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Market. The Rev. Bradley Burke will officiate the service.
