Roger Ervin Pegram

Roger Ervin Pegram, 84, of Luray, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022. 
He was born on June 3, 1938, in Stokesdale, N.C., and was a son of the late Ervin Spencer Pegram and Emma Plummer Pegram. 
Roger is survived by his wife, Sylvia Miller Pegram; a son, Roger E. "Pete" Pegram Jr. (Jenny Long) of Luray; two daughters, Jeanne Conley (Meredith L. "Murdock") of Elkton, and Melissa Adams of Beaufort, S.C.; three stepdaughters, Sherrie Copeland (Shelton) of Richmond, Pam Waters (Greg) of Crozier, and Robin Birdsong (Vincent "Chip") of Tallahassee, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Reva Holt and Virginia Parrish; and a brother, Howard Pegram. Before moving to the Shenandoah Valley in 1971, Roger was a paid firefighter and instructor for the city of Winston-Salem, NC.  After moving to the valley, he owned Pegram’s Decorating and Roger’s Tax and Bookkeeping in Broadway, VA.  He loved God and he loved music. Roger served by singing with his family in the 1970’s and later in churches and nursing homes. He also drove a van to transport children to church and served as church Treasurer. He loved camping and surf-fishing on the outer banks of NC, and enjoyed bee-keeping on the Miller’s Ida farm.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Grant Walters, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.
