Roger Baker Obituary

Roger Clayton Baker, 78, of Stanley, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at his home. Roger was born on July 1, 1943 and was the son of John G. Baker, Sr. and Elsie May (Nauman) Baker.

Roger was a member of the final class to graduate from the old Stanley High School (currently Stanley Elementary School) in 1961. He attended Washington Bible College. 

Roger married Wilma Ellen “Pete” Embrey on July 3, 1965. 

In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by five children, Paul Anthony “Tony” Baker (and wife Christina), John Philip Baker (and wife Michelle), David Lee Baker (and wife Jackie), Amanda Jo Seal (and husband Michael), Daniel Eugene Baker (and spouse Pamela); and 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren.

Roger is also survived by two brothers, James “Jim” Baker (and wife Pat), Robert Baker (and wife Patty); and one sister, Deborah Kocher.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by four of his brothers, John “Buster,” Garland, Harland and Jerry Baker; One grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Roger worked in construction and provided ministerial duties for multiple churches in Page County, including ten years of service to the congregation of Mill Creek Bible Church. 

The family will joyfully receive extended family and friends on Friday, May 27 from 6 to 8 PM at Bradley’s Funeral Home in Luray.

A memorial service will be held at Bradley’s Funeral Home on Saturday, May 28 at 11 AM. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Haiti Hope Mission (4752 Bloomery Pike C/O Alex Sowers, Augusta WV 26704).
