Opal Mae (Cunningham) LaRowe

Opal Mae LaRowe, 96, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025.

She was born on March 7, 1929, in Birch River, West Virginia, and was a daughter of the late James W. Cunningham and Mary I. Cunningham.

Opal was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Stanley, VA.

On July 25, 1947, Opal married Leland Raymond LaRowe, who died on July 1, 2011.

She is survived by four children, Sandra Lea Holbrook of Fredericksburg, VA, Donald Ray LaRowe and wife Deborah of Fredericksburg, VA, Linda Kay Coppage and husband George of Luray, VA, and Dianna Lynn Kitzmiller of Stanley, VA; six grandchildren, Deborah Ann Laucella, Ronald Wayne Holbrook, Kelly Lea Null, Donald Ray LaRowe Jr., Thomas Troy Roop and Pamela Annette LaRowe; thirteen great-grandchildren, Steven Lee Limox, Heather Lynne Kitzmiller, Devon Scott Jones, Dominica Marie Holmes, Kristen Lea Beall, Cody Holmes LaRowe, Morgan Allison LaRowe, Madison Nicole LaRowe, James Bryan Roop, Joseph Ray Roop, Jacqueline Smith Kunigowski, Hunter Ashby Jenkins and Gavin Lee Cook; seven great-great-grandchildren, Kendall Maureen Limox, Cameron Lee Limox, Evelyn Lilly Beall, Emory Catherine Beall, Brayden Lloyd Hartley, Oakley Grace Kitzmiller and River Ashby Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Opal was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Ricker; a granddaughter, Mary Kathreen Jones; and eleven siblings. 

A memorial graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray by Pastor Donnie Sherfey.
