Mellie "Bea" (Dooley) Pleasants

Mellie "Bea" Dooley Pleasants, 70, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at home surrounded by family and friends and fur baby Kissee Lou.

She was born on April 11, 1953, in Crawley, WV, and was a daughter of the late William Richard Dooley and Dorothy Mae Higgins Dooley.

Bea had worked as a seamstress at Wrangler and Aileen among others.

She believed in helping others and donated her body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program in hopes to continue helping others through science.

Bea is survived by a daughter, Regina Rickard (David) of Luray; a brother, Richard "Frank" Dooley (Jeanette ) of Capon Bridge, WV; her companion, Jeffrey Pleasants of Luray; a stepdaughter, Andrea Owens (Adam); and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Dooley; and a sister, Hazel Aguirre.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
