Mary Elizabeth Burke

Mary Elizabeth Burke, 96, of Sperryville, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at her home.

She was born on July 29, 1927, in Harris Hollow in Washington, VA, and was a daughter of the late Judd Burke and Mary Hassie Coppage Burke.

Mary had worked for the Department of the Navy and was a member of the Fellowship Assembly of God in Sperryville.

Mary lived a godly life. Even on her worst days, you would find her thanking God for all His wonderful blessings, never complaining about anything.

She is survived by her lifelong best friend, Nellie Alther; her favorite cat, Buttons; two nephews, Charles Gary Burke and Gregory Lane Burke, both of Chesterfield County; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Edward Burke; and two sisters, Bessie Virginia Burke Corder and Louise Marie Burke Clatterbuck.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, at the Masonic Cemetery in Washington, VA, by Pastor Joel Cress.
