Luther Green Stuart, 90, of Luray, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025.
Born in 1935, Luther lived a long, colorful, and unforgettable life —one marked by resilience, humor, and a spirit that could not be dimmed.
At just 2-years-old, Luther survived a near-fatal case of rat poisoning, a testament to the strength and stubbornness that would define him for the next nine decades.
He grew up to be a man who loved simple pleasures: a good day of fishing, a cigarette in hand, a strong drink, and time spent with the people he cared about.
Luther was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent 62 years married to the love of his life, Suzan, who preceded him in death in 2018.
He is survived by his children, Margaret, Dave and Mark; his grandchildren, Courtney, Michael and Matthew; and his great-grandchildren, Clifton and Lucy, each of whom brought him joy, pride, and stories he loved to share.
Luther leaves behind a legacy of resilience, mischief, and memories that his family will hold close forever. He will be dearly missed.
