Lonnie William Foster Sr., lovingly known as “Poppy,” 68, of Luray, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, at RMH.
He was born on May 24, 1957, to the late Eddie and Elizabeth (Cave) Foster. He was also preceded in death by his loving in-laws, Bernard and Connie Sours; a brother, Dale Foster; and two sisters, Joanne Jenkins and Bonnie Fox.
Lonnie is survived by his devoted wife, Lori (Sours) Foster, who has been faithfully by his side throughout 49 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Lonnie W. Foster Jr. and wife Dorothy; and his two beloved grandchildren, Addison and Colton Foster, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Ricky Foster and Norman Foster, along with many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Lonnie worked for Rose Roofing for 45 years. In his spare time, he loved working on his tractors and doing mechanic work; always happiest when welding and with a project in mind.
Lonnie never met a stranger and was always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be remembered as a hardworking man, a loving and supportive husband, an incredible father, and a proud “Poppy.” His kindness, laughter, and love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family night will be held on Thursday, November 13, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral services are planned for Friday, November 14, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Independent Brethren Church in Stanley, with graveside immediately following.
