Obituary


Lewis Lynwood Viands, 85, of Manassas, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at Inova Fair Oaks in Fairfax.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1935, in Luray and was a son of the late Walter Viands and Elsie Mauck Viands.
Lewis worked for the Defense Mapping Agency as a division chief of Facility Engineering, retiring with 38 years of service.
On Feb. 21, 1959, Lewis married Delilah Maxine Dovel Viands, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Michael Viands and wife Jaylynn of Clifton, and Stephen Viands of Centreville; two sisters, Shirley Comer and Norma Jean Huffman, both of Luray; and three grandchildren, Michael Andrew Viands and wife Taylor of Leesburg, Nicholas Viands of Clifton, and Jessica Viands of Clifton. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Rebecca Viands, Nina Saylor, Alice Housden and Lucy Keyser; and three brothers, Calvin, James and Walter Viands.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, at the Leake's Chapel Cemetery in Stanley by Pastor Tracy Shifflett.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Leake's Chapel Church of the Brethren, Stanley, Va. 22851.
