Lemuel Mervin Waters, 82, of Luray, VA passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at
Winchester Medical Center.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who loved him, he was
born on September 30, 1940, in Luray and was a son of the late Lemuel Ervin Waters and
Beulah Middleton Waters.
Mr. Waters is a graduate of Luray High School and proudly served our country in the United
States Army, being Honorably Discharged on September 30, 1969. He was a member of Mt.
Carmel Baptist Church in Luray and retired from Wallace Computer Services, Inc. as a press
operator in 1997 after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he was employed by Walmart
Inc. in Luray for 13 years.
On December 29, 1967, he married Joyce Ann Campbell Waters, who died on April 24, 2021.
He is survived by two sons, Lemuel Edward Waters of Luray, and Gregory Scott Waters of
Crozier, VA; a brother, Leroy Waters of Luray; a sister, Deloris Waters of Luray; and two
grandchildren, Kendall Regan Waters of Washington, D.C. and Jared Logan Waters of
Charlottesville, VA.
Mr. Waters was preceded in death by three sisters; Lucy Stevens, Lyda
Seekford and Vivian Baker; and four brothers; Elbert Waters, Elwood Waters, Oliver Waters and William "Dutch" Waters.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, at the Bradley Funeral Home
in Luray by Pastor Mike Nichols, preceded by family and friends visitation prior to the service.
Mr. Waters was interred at Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray and was laid to rest with Military
Honors by Comer Jones VFW Post 621.
