Joseph "Joe" Newton Alger

Joseph Newton Alger, 81, of Rileyville, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray, VA.

He was born on June 23, 1943, in Page County to the late Lewis Everett Alger and Lola Mable (Riley) Alger.

He is survived by a daughter, Katlin Alger of Rileyville, VA; a son, Joseph Newton Alger Jr. and wife Olivia of Bunker Hill, WV; and one granddaughter, Evelynn Alger of Bunker Hill, WV.

He is also survived by one brother, Bobby Lewis Alger of Rileyville, VA.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert William Alger and J.R. Alger; and one sister, Lola "Sissy" Pritchett.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Rileyville Gospel Church with Pastor Donnie Lam officiating, burial will follow in the Alger Family Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621 of Luray.

The family will receive friends the night before at the church from 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M.
