John Warren Pyles, 72, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
He was born on July 7, 1952, in Cheverly, MD, and was a son of the late Norman Wilton Pyles and Cora Lorraine Myers Pyles.
John was a veteran of the United States Navy.
On October 9, 1999, he married Eva Mae Housden Pyles, who survives.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by three stepdaughters, Ginger Lucas Aleshire of Luray, Jeannie Lucas Knott of Stanley, and Crystal Lucas Snyder of Churchville; five siblings, Betty Tennyson and David Pyles, both of Pennsylvania, Sandra Upfold of New York, and Donald Pyles and Sharon Ervine, both of Florida; five grandchildren, Timothy Gochenour, Jessica Knott, Kacy Knott, Joshua Cubbage and Cameron Cubbage; and one great-grandchild, Waylon Gochenour-Vlk. He was preceded in death by nine siblings, Stanley Pyles, Ella Shipley, Carl Pyles, James Pyles, Richard Pyles, Robert Pyles, Gerald Pyles, Ronald Pyles and Douglas Pyles; and his granddaughter, Heather Gochenour.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren in Stanley by Evangelist Andy Seastrom. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends any time at their home at 23 Grove Rd., Luray.
