John G. McCoy

John G. McCoy, 78, of Stanley, VA, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

He was born on August 1, 1946, in Page County, and was the son of the late John McCoy and Rachel Cubbage McCoy.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Sandra Sue McCoy, whom he married on December 24, 1964.

He is survived by one son, Todd McCoy and wife Michele of McGaheysville, VA; two daughters, Tina Dofflemyer and husband Ray, and Tammy Comer and husband Paul, all of Elkton, VA; five granddaughters, Tara Walton, Madison Taylor, Haley Switzer, Cortlyn McCoy, and Corrin McCoy; four grandsons, R.J. Dofflemyer, John Dofflemyer, Chase Comer, and Tucker McCoy; and nine great-grandchildren.

John is also survived by three sisters: Peggy Wimer, Maxine Benett, and Ruby Morris. He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Blackwell.

After graduating high school in 1964, John enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served four years aboard the USS Oriskany during the Vietnam War. Later in life, John retired from Valley Proteins Inc. after 30 years of service as a Sales Associate.

In his retirement, John and Sandra enjoyed traveling with friends, but most of all, they cherished spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

John was deeply loved by his family and will be profoundly missed. He will always remain in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, at the Bradley Funeral Home, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department.
