John Paul Conoboy, age 79, passed away at home Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from pancreatic cancer. John was born in Atlantic City, NJ and spent most of his life in Arlington, VA before moving to Rileyville, VA with his wife Louise. They have been together for 47 years.
John was a devoted husband and self-made man who built his own home and loved playing the guitar and making banjos. He was a master electrician, served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, and had a sense of humor and knack for storytelling that would make his Irish ancestors proud. John was preceded in death by parents Paul and Eileen (Olivette) Conoboy, sister Eileen (Conoboy) Brokaw, and brother Michael Conoboy. He is survived by his wife Louise, step-daughter Dawn Carroll, nieces Mary, Christine, and Eileen Conoboy, nephews Mike and Sean Brokaw, sisters-in-law Linda Jones and Carolyn Conoboy, cousins Anthony and Diana Olivette, and five step-grandchildren. Loyal and fun-loving, John was beloved by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 200 Collins Avenue, Luray, VA. A reception will immediately follow in the church annex.
