Joan Lynette Hughes, 81, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Hawksbill Assisted Living.
She was born on May 29, 1944, in Monrovia, CA, and was adopted at the age of 8, along with her two sisters. They were raised in Huron, South Dakota, by the late Leland Skow and Maxine Alley Skow.
Joan worked in management for Wrangler, retiring with 30 years of service. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Laureate Epsilon Chapter. She also volunteered her time with Page County Triad.
On September 9, 1966, she married Ronnie William Hughes, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by two sons, Steven Hughes and wife Melissa of Harrisonburg, and Gregory Hughes and wife Kimberly of Pennsylvania; a sister, Jacqueline McClendon of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Jim Walters; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Janene Kinney; and a brother, John Walters.
Services are planned for a later date.
