Jesse Rufus "J.R." Blankenbaker

Jesse Rufus "J.R." Blankenbaker Sr., 81, of Stanley, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Page Memorial Hospital.

He was born on December 30, 1941, in Madison and was a son of the late Rufus Blankenbaker and Jessie Clore Blankenbaker.

J.R. was a member of the Massanutten Hunt Club.

On July 16, 1993, he married Elsie V. "Ginger" Stroupe Blankenbaker, who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Jesse Blankenbaker of Shenandoah, Jacob Blankenbaker of Luray, Jason Miller of Stanley, and Charles Rothgeb of Elkton; two daughters, Annita Steppe of Waynesboro, and Jennifer Martin of Afton; a sister, Jane Smith of Madison; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Darrick Ramey and Julian Rothgeb.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 16, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Johnny Hawkins, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the Graves Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.

The family will also receive friends any time at the residence at 282 Pine Grove Rd., Stanley.
