Janet Louise (Purdham) Gander

Janet Louise Gander, 87, of Luray, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on Monday, July 7, 2025.

She was born on April 17, 1938, in Stanley and was the daughter of the late Harry Leo Purdham and Ruby L. Mayes Purdham.

On August 30, 1956, Janet married Edward Brubaker Gander, who survives her. Together they built a loving family and shared nearly 69 years of marriage.

In addition to her beloved husband, Janet is survived by a son, David Gander (Lisa) of Luray; her daughter, Carolyn Gander of Palmyra; three grandchildren, Leona Dean (Davey), Travis Bradley (Angela), and Katherine Gander (Trenton); and six great-grandchildren, Cole, Blake, Raegan, Cooper, Heavenly, and Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Collins; her brother, Thomas Purdham; and a grandson, Jacob Edward Bradley.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, burial services will be private.
