James Allen Howell, 84, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester.
He was born on July 27, 1941, in Luray and was a son of the late Allie Edward Howell and Elsie Mae Wince Howell.
James was a veteran of the United States Army and Air Force. He was a member of the New Market American Legion and worked as a computer operator for Wrangler, retiring with 33 years of service.
On October 21, 1995, he married Jane Elizabeth Perrin Howell, who survives.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by a stepdaughter, Heidi Cresce of Rileyville; and a granddaughter, Angel Dodson Nelson and husband Cody of Houston, TX. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ranville Howell, Russell Howell and Floyd Howell; and a sister, Ethel Jenkins.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray by Pastor Duane Painter, with military honors by the VFW Comer-Jones Post 621.
