Jacquelyn Porter Obituary

Jacquelyn Ann Porter, 69, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter.

She was born on March 14, 1955, in Mechanicsburg, PA, and was a daughter of the late William Hornor and Margaret Cockrell Hornor.

On May 19, 1979, Jacquelyn married James W. Porter, who survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Brian Porter of West Grove, PA, and Nathan Porter of Luray; and her brothers, Edwin Allen Horner and Carson Hornor of Pennsylvania.

Jacquelyn was a talented musician and composer, a gifted guitar player, singer, and songwriter. Her countless original songs and studio recordings were not just music — they were a pure reflection of her heart and her undeniable spirit.

Her creativity extended into the visual arts, where she excelled as a jewelry maker, knitter, and painter. Every piece she created carried her passion and unique vision, leaving beauty and joy in its wake.

A devoted wife and mother, she worked tirelessly to ensure her family was cared for and loved, creating a home filled with warmth, honesty, and understanding. Her patience and support were endless, and she inspired her family with her strength and compassion.

Throughout her life, she had a deep commitment to helping others, especially youth who felt discarded or misunderstood. She made it her mission to remind them that their uniqueness was a strength and that not fitting into society’s box only made them more extraordinary. She carried this same selfless, loving kindness into her online community, where she would often reach out to complete strangers who were struggling, offering an ear, support, and the same reminder: the world’s closed-mindedness was no reflection of their value. She showed them they were seen, loved, and important.

Through her near-constant studies, she became a graduate of the University of Science and Philosophy, was a Reiki Master and Teacher, Numerologist, Astrologist, Studied Reflexology at Penna Institute of Reflexology, Studied Hypnotherapy at College of Clinical Hypnosis, and Jin Shin Do practitioner. She brought healing and peace to many. Her legacy of love, creativity, and compassion touched countless lives. The seeds of her kindness are scattered among the many generations to come, leaving the world all the better for it.

Her presence will be greatly missed, and her next journey will no doubt continue her remarkable beauty.
