Inez Belle (Broaddus) Veney

Inez Belle Veney, age 99, of Maricopa, AZ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at her home.

She was born in Luray, Virginia, on January 2, 1925, to the late Daisy and Hubert Broaddus. 

Inez married Frederick Douglas Veney on October 27, 1947. She was a loving mother to three children, Paula Groves of Maricopa, AZ, Frederick Douglas Veney Jr. of Luray, VA, and Cecelia Williams (Ronald) of Phoenix, AZ. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Douglas; her parents, Daisy and Hubert Broaddus; two sisters, Doris Mills and Elizabeth Broaddus; and four brothers, Merle, Alvin, Harold and Buddy Broaddus. 

Inez was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved attending church and family gatherings. 

Leaving behind are her grandchildren, Darryl Groves (Christine), Eric Richard, Sheri Kaley (Timothy), Jasmine Johnson (Jesse), Dougie Veney (Kathryn), and Chantell Williams; her great-grandchildren, Shawn Groves (Carrie), Ashley Groves, Jalen Groves, Alyssa Groves, Marcus King, Maia King, Levi Johnson, and Ava Johnson; and her great-great-grandchildren, Kendall and Tyson Veney, and Wynter and Willow Groves; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, at Bethel Baptist Church, 18 Carillon Drive, Luray, VA 22835. Viewing is set for 11 a.m. and the funeral at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Veney Family Cemetery, with repast at Bethel Baptist Church.
