Harvey Painter Obituary

Harvey Dailey "Buddy" Painter, 78, went home to be with His Savior on April 7, 2020. He had resided in Stanley with his daughter. 

He was born on March 2, 1942, and was a son of the late Harvey Garland "Dicky" Painter and Charlotte Mae Painter.

On July 20, 1962, he married Nancy Linnette Short Painter, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children, Michael Dale Painter, Christopher Wayne Painter and wife Candy, and Linnette Painter Knight and husband Ronnie; four grandchildren, Derrick Wayne Cubbage and wife Pam, Brandy Renee Petefish and significant other Danny Housden, Tehya Knight and Amanda Painter; six great-grandchildren, Madison Petefish, Aryn Petefish, Lexi Petefish, Blayn Petefish, Easton Housden and Kenleigh Cubbage; two brothers, Jennings "J.C." Painter and Johnnie Painter; and one sister, Jean Huffman. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Yager; and a brother, Roger "Rock" Painter. 

Mr. Painter graduated from Stanley High School in 1960 and retired from Fairfax County as an asphalt engineer in 1989. He was a member of the Alma Primitive Baptist Church. He was inducted into The Baseball Hall of Fame on July 12, 2016, at part of the Stanley Sandlots. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports and going to the beach. 

Harvey was loved by everyone who ever met him. His big smile will be remembered by all. 

Friends and family can view and sign the register from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
