H. Regatta (Dovel) Gochenour

Hester Regatta Gochenour, 84, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.

She was born on April 29, 1940, in Page County and was a daughter of the late Elmer Rosser Dovel and Ruby Agnes Leake Dovel.

Regatta retired from Wrangler, with 35 years of service.

On October 6, 1972, she married Alvin "Leroy" Gochenour, who died on September 11, 2011.

Regatta is survived by a son, Hensil Raynard Good and wife Penny of Stanley; a daughter, Vickie Winegord and companion Jerry of Harrisonburg; a brother, Denver Dovel of Stanley; six grandchildren, Kristy Good of Stanley, Scott Winegord of Harrisonburg, Travis Good of Stanley, Justin McCoy and wife Samantha of West Virginia, Montana Alger of Shenandoah, and Travis McCoy and husband Jake of Luray; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Elmer Dovel; two sisters, Allene Dovel and Peggy Loy; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Dovel and Shirley Dovel; and a brother-in-law, Dale Loy.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren in Luray by Pastor Gary Major and Pastor Andy Seastrom. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren.
