GEORGE FRANK NOSEK, SR
April 8, 1932 – January 29, 2023
Rileyville, VA – George F. Nosek Sr., 90, died of natural causes January 29, 2023, at his residence. He was born April 8, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, the
son of Frank and Josefa (Valasek) Nosek. George graduated from Bedford High School, Class of 1949. George then
went on to Ohio State University and graduated in 1953 with a Dairy Science Degree. While in OSU, he was enrolled in the ROTC program. After graduation he did
his two-year obligation which he extended to career with 30 years career active-duty Army. After retirement, George worked for Computer Science Corporation for ten years. After
college, George married his high school sweetheart, Betty M. Swaton on June 26, 1953. George loved his family and was fortunate to only be separated for about 20 months while in
the Army, the rest of the time was together as a family. After retirement George and Betty settled in Rileyville where he loved living on the river, fishing for catfish and enjoyed the
beautiful view of the mountains. He was an active member of the Luray United Methodist Church where he often “opened a can of worms” during Bible Studies and Sunday School
classes. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Betty; son-in-law, Wayne Bucci; and step granddaughter, Bethany Diebler. Surviving is his sister, Lucy Kaufman, (Ohio) brother, Frank Nosek (Ohio), his 5 children, Jacqueline Marceron (Robbie) of Owings, MD; Deborah Garrett (Tuffy) of Fredericksburg, VA; George Nosek, Jr. of Burke, VA, Pamela Bucci of California, MD, and Mark Nosek (Sharon) of Mechanicsville, MD. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A burial will be conducted in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, February 23, 2023 at 1:00. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held in the future (Spring/Summer) in Luray, VA.
