Gary Richard Greenwood, 67, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born on November 12, 1957, in New York and was a son of the late Gideon Richard Greenwood and Louise May Saminsky Greenwood.
Gary had worked as a respiratory therapist at Page Memorial Hospital, Prince William Medical Center and at Ellis Hospital for many years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church in Stanley and the Band of Brothers men's fellowship. He was also an ordained minister.
In his younger years, Gary enjoyed camping with his brother Gregg and sister Gail. He earned his black belt in karate, training since he was a teenager. He loved watching football, hockey and spending time with family.
Gary is survived by his wife, Tammy Sue Chrisman Greenwood of Stanley; a son, Dean Greenwood of Stanley; his stepdaughter, Michelle Dee Middleton of Luray; a sister, Gail Beckenstein of Malta, NY; and a brother, Gregg Greenwood and wife Laura of Clifton Park, NY.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, at the Bethlehem Independent Christian Church in Stanley, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m.
