Garnett Glendon Gochenour, 87, of Stanley, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on May 7, 1937, in Luray and was a son of the late Fred Lee Gochenour and Vertie Hinton Gochenour.
Garnett was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War, and owned and operated Bes Wae Bac Hoe for numerous years.
Garnett attended the Luray Pentecostal Church, was an avid traveler and enjoyed listening to Christian bluegrass music.
He is survived by two sons, Donnie Gochenour of Luray, and Doug Gochenour of Stanley; two sisters, Ruth Stump of Harrisonburg, and Valda Short of Ohio; a granddaughter, Raegan Millsap and husband Kevin of Luray; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Cole Millsap and Harper Rae Millsap, both of Luray; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Nelson Gochenour, Emmett "Ned" Gochenour, Elwood Gochenour, Carson Gochenour and Joseph "Keith" Gochenour; six sisters, Hilda Moyer, Rena Lesko, Lennis Lucas, Joyce Keyser, Alma Rupp and Dorothy Gochenour; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted by Evangelist Andy Seastrom at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at the Mount Zion Cemetery, 1177 Mount Zion Rd., Luray.
A time of fellowship and sharing with family and friends will follow the service in the Mount Zion Church social hall.
