Frances Grace Seekford, 81, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021, at Hawksbill Assisted Living. She was born on March 4, 1940, in Luray and was a daughter of the late William Jacob Gochenour and Grace Ellen Cave Gochenour. Frances worked as a clerk for 20 years for the Luray Caverns Corporation and was a member of the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren.
On Jan. 16, 1963, she married Billy Wayne Cigar Seekford, who died on June 19, 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl and husband Jeff Mowbray of Luray, and Christine Ellen and husband Brian Wenger of Greensboro, N.C.; a brother, Ikey Gochenour of Luray; a sister, Nancy Ann Tusing of Woodstock; and three grandchildren, Seth Wenger of Greensboro, N.C., R. Michael Ighnat Jr. and wife Elise Ighnat of Pasadena, Md., and G. Wayne Meadows of Harrisonburg. She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Gail, Hunter, Ivan Bobby, Leroy, Dwight Whitey, Ashby W., Donald J. and Aubrey Preacher Gochenour; and three sisters, Charlotte Louise Higgins, Rose Ella Koutsounadis and Goldie Mae Arey. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren by Pastor Gary Major. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
