Ethel Bailey Good

Ethel Bailey Good, 91, of Stanley, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

Ethel was born on March 25, 1933, on Tanner's Ridge in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Bailey and Hattie Jenkins Bailey.

On January 4, 1951, she married her husband of 72 years, Austin Junior Good, who died on December 15, 2023. 

Ethel was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church on Tanner's Ridge.

She is survived by a daughter, Grovenia G. "Tina" Ruud (Paul) of Leland, NC; a son, Austin Jeffery "Jeff" Good of Stanley; a brother, Grover "Calvin" Bailey (Nancy) of Stanley; a son-in-law, David S. Short; a granddaughter, Ashley S. Borgie (John); two great-granddaughters, Emma Rose and Mary Grace Borgie, all of Gum Springs, VA; and a grandson, Dr. Stephen D. Short (Chelsea) of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa G. Short (Dave); a sister, Velva B. Good; and three brothers, Russell F., Robert N. and Claude W. Bailey.

Mrs. Good was employed by AVTEX Fibers for 37 years. After the plant closed, she worked a number of years for ARAMARK in the gift shop at Big Meadows Lodge.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, at the Bradley Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the Jenkins Family Cemetery.
