Ernest Richard "Buddy" Blevins, 90, of Luray, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Page Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jenkins, Kentucky, on December 31, 1931, and was the son of the late Ernest Blevins and Alta Mae Haynes Blevins.
Buddy was very proud of his Kentucky heritage and would gladly share that information with anyone who he thought might be related to the family. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
On February 12, 1988, he married Mary Gail Ore Blevins, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Adrian Cole Blevins of Ocala, Florida; a daughter, Catherine Mae (Eric) Carlson; a brother, Gary (Marla) Blevins of Geneva, Ohio; a sister, Lana (Chris) Pavick of Cardington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ashley Blevins and Joshua Blevins; seven great-grandchildren; one aunt, Alberta Blevins Haynes; several nieces and nephews, and a whole bunch of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and a sister, Janet Blevins Thorne and Brother Rodney Allen "Bobby' Blevins.
Buddy was a very active member of the Main Street Baptist Church, Page Valley NARFE Chapter 1793, American Legion Post 22, Comer-Jones VFW Post 621, Lafayette Lodge 137 AF&AM, Royal Arch Chapter 4 and Page Chapter 24 Order of the Eastern Star.
Buddy proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War and was assigned to USS Destroyer Douglas A. Munro.
Eastern Star and Masonic Rites, as well as funeral services, will be conducted at the Main Street Baptist Church by Pastor Tim Scott on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 2 p.m., with family visitation at the church from 12-2 p.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Comer Jones Post 621
