Edward Quitman Harden, 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 27, 2024, in Luray, Virginia. He was born on September 17, 1952.
Edward dedicated 50 years to firefighting, serving 33 years at Fort Meade Fire Department and volunteering for an additional 20 years at Rockville Fire Department and Tappahannock-Essex Fire Department.
A devout member of the Tappahannock Seventh-day Adventist Church, Edward was a fun-loving, compassionate family man who held a deep passion for sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, and Washington Nationals. Edward also cherished target practice on his shooting range, enjoying this hobby with his grandsons and son-in-law.
Edward is survived by his wife, Patricia Harden; a son, Brian Harden; a daughter, April Heath; his son-in-law, Edward Heath; and his grandchildren, Deana Abrecht, Edward Heath, Gage Abrecht, Christopher Harden, Devin Heath, Drake Heath, Aailiyah Abrecht, Joshua Abrecht, and Jazmine Heath. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Louise Harden.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
