Doris Louise Cubbage

Doris Louise Cubbage, 85, of Stanley, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

She was born on May 30, 1939, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Wilton Franklin Cubbage and Ollie Mae Lucas Reedy.

Doris faithfully attended the Lucas Hollow Country Church in Stanley and had worked for 35 years at the Alma Poultry Plant in Stanley.

On December 27, 1956, she married Paul Richard Cubbage, who died on June 22, 2020.

Doris is survived by a son, Christopher Cubbage of Stanley; a daughter, Gloria Lesley and husband Ron of Stanley; two brothers, Franklin Cubbage and Steve Reedy, both of Broadway; five grandchildren, Wendy A. Smith, Ronald D. Lesley Jr., Ryan C. Cubbage, Haven M. Cubbage and Raegan C. Turner; one great-grandchild, Jessica Richards; and three great-great-grandchildren, Connor Richards, Preston Atkins and Ashlynn Atkins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Cubbage; and a sister, Peggy Simmers.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, at the Lucas Hollow Country Church by Donnie Burns and Andy Basnight, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
