Donald Feliciano Obituary

Donald Vincent Feliciano, 70, of Luray, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Winchester Medical Center.

He was born on August 13, 1952, in Hawthorne, N.J., and was a son of the late Dr. Vincent Feliciano, MD and Anita Louise Hessler Feliciano.

Don graduated from Hawthorne High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University and a Master of Science, Environmental Systems Management from American University. He retired from a career in environmental consulting.

Don was a passionate dog owner and is survived by his two therapy dogs Josie and Bella. Over the last few years, Don has worked tirelessly to build Bailey’s Legacy Dog Park in the Town of Stanley. This dog park was established to honor his previous therapy dog, Bailey, and to provide dog owners of the local community with a place to convene and let their dogs play. As part of Don’s work with his therapy dogs, he would bring them to visit local hospitals and treatment centers to provide some comfort and companionship to patients seeking medical care.

Don was also involved in numerous activities and organizations including Luray Page One, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Save the Children, Children's National Medical Center, Special Olympics of Virginia, Humane Society of the U.S., St. Joseph's Indian School and St. Labre Indian School.

He is survived by a son, Nicholas Edward Feliciano and wife Elizabeth of Arlington; a daughter, Dana Louise Keip and husband Joseph of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Dr. David Feliciano, MD and wife Dr. Grace Rozycki, MD of Edgewater, MD; a sister, Joan De Freest of West Milford, NJ; and three grandchildren, Emilia Feliciano, Addison Keip and Kennedy Keip. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gene De Freest.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Bailey’s Legacy Dog Park's gofundme page (https://gofund.me/6fb39df2).

Services will be held in Luray, VA and West Milford, NJ at a later date.
